The College for Public Health and Social Justice (CPHSJ) at Saint Louis University (SLU) is seeking qualified applicants for two 9-month, tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin Fall of 2023.

The College for Public Health and Social Justice includes the departments of Behavioral Science and Health Education, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Health Management and Policy. It offers a competitive, well-established Master of Public Health, Bachelor of Science degrees in Public Health, Health Management, and Biostatistics and a research-focused PhD in Public Health Studies. We are seeking candidates who will promote a culture of equity and hope with a strong commitment to health for all.

Applicants for this position must hold an earned doctorate in public health or a related field. Applicants must also demonstrate experience in the classroom and an interest in mentoring students from the undergraduate through the doctoral levels. Specifically, we are seeking faculty who can teach foundational public health courses in epidemiology and behavioral and social science. Successful candidates will demonstrate research success appropriate for an early career scholar with a clear vision of how their research will develop in the coming years. Areas of expertise that are of interest include: infectious and chronic diseases, geospatial health, environmental determinants of health, disaster preparedness, maternal and child health, health across the lifespan, and advocacy and policy. Primary responsibilities include conducting and publishing research, obtaining external funding, teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, student mentoring, and service to the university, profession, and community. We encourage applicants to apply whose teaching and research demonstrate a commitment to social justice approaches to equity for historically excluded communities. Salary is competitive with top-ranked institutions and is dependent on qualifications, experience, and current research funding.

VACCINE PROTOCOL:

Saint Louis University requires COVID-19 vaccinations and a booster dose for all students, staff, and faculty who are physically present on our St. Louis campuses. As a prospective and/or a new employee at Saint Louis University, you will be/are required to comply with the University’s vaccination protocol. Proof of full vaccination is required before the start of employment in order to work at Saint Louis University. If you are not vaccinated, you are required to begin the vaccination process at the time of your first day of employment and submit proof of full vaccination within 30 days of your start date. Exemptions may be granted on the grounds of religious beliefs or medical circumstances. Failure to comply with the vaccine requirement within 30 days of an employee’s start date will result in termination of the employment. Proof of vaccine will be submitted through an online portal made available to you during your Workday onboarding tasks.

The University will require all students, faculty and staff to obtain a booster vaccine dose prior to their start date, This applies to:

  • All adults over the age of 18 years who completed their vaccine series with Pfizer or Moderna at least 6 months ago.
  • Those who received the J&J vaccine at least two months ago.
